Augmentation is one of High Five's signature features that Interlude does not have. It lets you add a random bonus to a weapon: passive stats and sometimes a powerful active or passive skill. A good augment can give your character a second life in a fight — but it is a lottery, and adena disappears fast here. Let us cover how to play it smart.
How it works
You bring a weapon, a Life Stone of the right grade and Gemstones to a blacksmith. He fuses a random augment into the weapon. The result is one or two passive effects, plus — with some chance — an extra skill (active or passive).
Life Stone grades
| Life Stone type | Level | Chance of a good skill |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-Grade | by level (46+…) | Low |
| High-Grade | by level | Medium |
| Top-Grade | high level | High — the best active skills |
The higher the grade and level of the Life Stone, the higher your chance of a valuable skill rather than just minor stats. Life Stones drop from mobs by level — alongside your adena farming (see farming 75–80 in High Five).
The best augments
- ▸Self-buff actives — Duel Might, Wild Magic, Focus, Empower: pop them before a fight for a power spike.
- ▸Passive stats — +STR/+DEX/+CON, crit rate, attack/cast speed.
- ▸Mages value Wild Magic (magic crit) and Empower; fighters want Duel Might and Focus.
An active skill augment (like Duel Might) is usually more valuable than a passive one because you control when to trigger it. But it drops less often — for top augments use a high-level Top-Grade Life Stone.
Augmentation is random: a top skill almost never lands on the first try. Do not augment an expensive, enchanted weapon until you have practiced on a cheap one, and budget for several attempts. Removing an augment also costs money and destroys the current result.
Augmentation versus SA (Interlude)
If you played Interlude, where a weapon gets a fixed SA, then High Five augmentation is a more flexible but random version of the same idea: you can land an effect stronger than an SA, but you do not pick it directly. The overall gearing path in High Five is in the complete High Five guide.
Who needs it
Augmentation is endgame optimization. A High Five beginner should first reach a decent weapon and level, then invest in augments. Which class is strong in High Five PvP is covered in best PvP classes High Five.
