Cursed Weapons in Lineage 2 Interlude: Zariche & Akamanah

A guide to the cursed weapons Zariche and Akamanah in L2 Interlude: how you get them, the power and penalties they bring, why the whole server hunts the wielder, and how you lose them.

July 20, 2026

Cursed weapons — Zariche and Akamanah — are arguably Interlude's most dramatic content. You cannot buy them: they appear in the world, 'possess' a player, and turn them into a walking disaster of immense power that the entire server hunts. Let us cover how it works and whether you should ever pick one up.

How it ends up in your hands

A cursed weapon 'enters the world' with a certain probability — it appears as a drop on a random monster (or passes on after the previous owner dies / time runs out). Whoever picks it up becomes the new wielder. No choice: grab the item and you are already cursed.

Power and transformation

The wielder gets a transformation and a colossal stat boost — solo, such a character can tear through parties and kill strong players. That feeling of absolute power is exactly why people pick a cursed weapon up.

Penalties: why it is a trap

  • You are hostile to the entire server — anyone can attack you with no flag and no penalty.
  • Town guards attack you; peace zones and shops are effectively closed.
  • The weapon must be 'fed' with kills: stop killing and its power fades and it leaves.
  • Death means losing the cursed weapon — it moves on through the world.

A cursed weapon is a giant target on your back. The whole server — including people who would never otherwise team up — will hunt specifically you. Pick it up only if you are ready for non-stop PvP against everyone at once.

How to hunt the wielder

Killing a cursed-weapon wielder is prestige and reward, and it 'frees' the server. Gather a group, catch the moment the wielder is weakened or distracted, and focus them with the whole party. The flag and karma mechanics — which work specially here — are broken down in the PK and karma guide.

Should you take one

If you want to feel like the boss of the server for a short while and do not mind dying under a mob's assault — yes, it is an unforgettable experience. For calm leveling and farming — hard pass. For power without the curse, see best PvP classes Interlude.
