Pets in Lineage 2 are not just cute, they are useful: they fight beside you, and a strider even carries you as a mount. Unlike summons, a pet exists permanently and grows with you. Let us cover which pets you can raise in Interlude and how to care for them.
The kinds of pets
| Pet | How to get it | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Wolf | A quest from around level 15 | Starter combat pet |
| Hatchling | An egg quest, around 20+ | Combat pet, evolves |
| Strider | Evolve a hatchling at 55 | Rideable mount plus combat |
| Wyvern | For castle owners, endgame | Flying mount for a clan leader |
Feeding and care
A pet is always hungry: keep a stock of the right pet food in your inventory. If the pet gets hungry and the food runs out, it runs away, and getting it back is a hassle. Pets gain XP from your kills, so they grow alongside you.
You can equip a pet with its own gear (pet armor and weapon), which noticeably raises its combat value. Do not forget shots: pets have their own Soul/Spirit Shots (see the shots guide).
The strider and riding
The strider comes from evolving a hatchling at level 55 and does the key thing: you can ride it, speeding up travel across the world. In a game with a lot of running between zones and to sieges, that is a big convenience.
Pets vs summons
Do not confuse pets with summoner servitors. A pet is a permanent creature for any class that you have to feed and raise. A servitor is summoned temporarily for a consumable and is only available to summoner classes (see the summoner guide).
A pet is vulnerable in PvP: it is killed easily, and losing a raised pet stings. Do not bring a valuable pet into heavy PvP unless you are ready to risk it.
