Shots are what turn limp hits into real damage. Without them a character fights at half power, which is why absolutely everyone uses them. They are also your biggest running cost: knowing which shots you need and what they cost saves a mountain of adena.
The three kinds of shots
| Shot | For whom | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Soulshot (SS) | Physical classes | A sharp boost to a hit's physical damage |
| Spiritshot (SpS) | Mages | A boost to a spell's magic damage |
| Blessed Spiritshot (BSpS) | Mages (endgame) | Even more magic damage and a magic crit chance |
Matching the grade
Shots come in grades, like gear: No-grade, D, C, B, A, S. The shot grade must match your weapon's grade or they simply will not fire. Swap your weapon to a new grade and you must buy the matching shots too. The weapon grade path is covered in gear progression.
How to use them
- ▸Physical classes use Soulshots: they charge before a hit and boost the next attack.
- ▸Mages use Spiritshots, and at endgame Blessed Spiritshots for maximum magic damage.
- ▸Turn on automatic shot use so you do not press it manually every hit.
- ▸Pets have their own shots (see the pets guide).
Blessed Spiritshots are noticeably stronger than regular Spiritshots, but pricier. Nuker mages almost always move to Blessed as soon as they can afford it, because the damage pays for the difference.
Shots are your main ongoing cost, not a one-off purchase. Budget for them from the very start and do not skimp: farming without shots is many times slower, so being stingy on shots literally costs you money. How to bank your first adena is in the starter adena guide.
