In Lineage 2 buffs are not a nice bonus — they are half of your character's power. A full buff set easily doubles damage and survivability, which is why every party has a buffer and solo players almost always run a box buffer. Let us cover who provides what and how to build the ideal combo.
Five sources of buffs

The classic solo farm setup: Prophet + Elven Elder (or Shillien Elder) on boxes gives you nearly the full buff set plus MP recharge and heals.
Mandatory buffs
Even a basic set noticeably changes the game. These are the buffs you never farm or PvP without:

Buff slots are limited (Interlude usually 24 + 4 for songs/dances). Prioritize combat buffs for your class: fighters want Might/Focus/Haste, mages want Empower/Acumen/Wind Walk.
The box buffer for solo play
On most servers a solo player runs the main character plus one or two buffers on a second client. The routine is simple: buff the main, minimize the box, go farm. A Prophet + EE dual-box covers damage, MP recharge for a mage, and heals.

The buffer in a party
