Lineage 2 Interlude Necromancer Guide: DoT, Summon & Solo

How to play a Necromancer in L2 Interlude: damage over time (DoT), curses, the skeleton summon, mana leech and solo farming. Key skills, dyes and gear.

The Necromancer is a dark mage who does not so much burst as strangle a target: curses, damage over time (DoT) and a summoned skeleton slowly but surely take apart even tanky mobs. Thanks to recovering mana from corpses, the Necromancer farms almost endlessly solo. Let us cover its playstyle.

How the Necromancer plays

  • DoT curses — apply them and the target bleeds HP over time while you keep casting.
  • Death Spike and direct spells — finishing damage, stronger near corpses.
  • Skeleton summon — holds aggro and adds damage, taking pressure off the mage.
  • MP recovery from corpses — the key to endless solo farming.

Progression

The Necromancer is a Dark Elf mage, becoming Soultaker at endgame. It is one of the most self-sufficient mages, but with a more 'control' style than pure AoE nukers like the Spellhowler. An overview of all mages is in the Interlude mage classes guide.

Against single, tanky targets the Necromancer often out-performs a nuker: apply DoT curses, send the skeleton in, finish with Death Spike, wasting almost no MP. Against packs it loses to AoE mages.

Dyes and gear

Dyes: INT (magic damage) and a little WIT (cast speed) / MEN (MP). Weapon: a mage blunt/staff C-gradeB-gradeA-grade with an Acumen SA (cast speed). Robe armor for magic damage and MP. Keep a stock of Spirit Shots.

Solo farming

The Necromancer is a great solo pick: the skeleton tanks, the DoTs tick, the MP never runs dry. Where to go by level is in best farming spots, and a comparison of solo picks in best beginner class.
