Leveling from 1 to 40 in Lineage 2 Interlude is the hardest stretch for new players. But with the right route, you can reach level 40 in 2–4 days of active play. Here's the optimal path.
Levels 1–20: Starter Quests
The first 20 levels are best done through quests. Every starting town (Gludio, Giran, Dion, Aden, Heine) has a quest chain that gives substantial EXP and adena. Look for quests marked (Rec) — they're matched to your level.
- ▸Gludio starting zone (Human, Elf, Dark Elf): guard quests give up to 50k exp at levels 1–10.
- ▸Don't skip The Tutorial Quest — you get a D-grade item and 5k adena.
- ▸«A Sacred Task» chain: covers levels 10–20, 200k+ experience total.
Levels 20–28: Ant Nest
Ant Nest is iconic for leveling in L2 Interlude. Worker Ants and overseers give good EXP and steady drops. Best in a 2–3 person party: one tank + one healer or mage.
The «Ant Nest» quest from Gludio's guard: collect Ant Soldier Badges for bonus EXP rewards.
Levels 28–35: Cruma Marshlands
Marsh Stakato Workers (29–33) and Drones (31–34) die fast and give steady EXP. Solo classes should work near the entrance; party classes should push deeper into the marshlands.
Levels 35–40: Breka → Alligator Island
| Level | Location | Best Mobs | EXP/hr |
|---|---|---|---|
| 35–38 | Breka Stronghold Perimeter | Breka Orc Fighter | ~200–400k/hr |
| 37–40 | Alligator Island | Alligator | ~350–600k/hr |
| 38–40 | Dragon Valley entrance | Vagabond of Ruins | ~400–650k/hr |
Key Tips for Fast Leveling
- ▸EXP boost items: if your server offers them, use them at stable, fast-kill spots for +30–50% EXP.
- ▸Party bonus: an Interlude 7–9 person party gets a Party EXP Bonus — a perfect party at 35+ gives x2–x3 over solo.
- ▸Don't stay too long: move to a new zone as soon as mobs stop giving decent EXP (when you out-level them by 5+).
- ▸Best solo leveling classes: Dark Avenger, Hawkeye, and Spellhowler have the best solo EXP rates in this range.
