Leveling 40-52 in Lineage 2 Interlude: Where to Grind After 2nd Class

Leveling guide for 40 to 52 in L2 Interlude: zones, party versus solo, shot costs, and how to get through the slowest stretch of the game faster.

Level 40 is where the game changes. You have your 2nd class, real skills at last, and you have also walked straight into the slowest stretch in Interlude. Mobs hit harder, XP per kill is thin, and level 52 where the real content opens is still a long way off. Everyone goes through this stretch and almost everyone resents it.

Where to grind by level

LevelZoneWhy it works
40-43Cruma Tower floor 2Dense spawns, magic mobs, party friendly
43-46Enchanted ValleyGood XP, drops Crystals
46-49Forsaken Plains, Blazing SwampPlenty of mobs, low competition
49-52Sea of Spores, Devastated CastleTight groups, sets you up for 52+

Cruma Tower is the classic for a reason: the mobs are magic-based, they stand close together, and they do not scatter. With a buffer and a tank, Cruma covers most of 40-46 on its own.

Solo or party

The gap is enormous on this stretch. Solo you run into mobs that soak damage while your MP drains. A party of four or five with a buffer clears 40-52 in a couple of evenings instead of a week. If you are playing alone, pick a class that carries itself (see best solo farming class) and plan for a slower pace.

AoE leveling already works from 40 if you have a mage with area skills and a tank to gather. It is the fastest way through the stretch, covered separately in the AoE party guide.

What it costs

The classic mistake at 40-52 is skimping on shots. Without Soulshots you fight at half power and the stretch doubles in length. Budget for it up front: the maths is in the shots guide, and where to earn it at this level is in adena farming 40-55.

Do not buy a full C-grade set at 40. Twelve levels later it is obsolete, and that adena is better spent on shots. Take a C-grade weapon and cheap armor, then fill the rest in closer to 52. The grade progression logic is in gear progression.

What comes next

At 52 subclasses unlock (see the subclass guide) and the real game begins: sieges, epics, serious farming. The next stretch is covered in leveling 52-61.
