Leveling 52-61 in Lineage 2 Interlude: Catacombs, Subclass and B-grade

Leveling guide for 52 to 61 in L2 Interlude: catacombs and necropolises, when subclasses actually unlock, moving to B-grade, and the best zones.

August 16, 2026

Past 52 the game finally opens up. Catacombs and necropolises appear, subclassing comes into view, and B-grade sits on the horizon. XP requirements keep climbing though, so from here your choice of zone matters more than your build does.

Catacombs and necropolises

These are the heart of the stretch. The mobs give solid XP and drop Sealstones, which you can sell or trade. They are also where everyone levels subclasses, so you will rarely have the place to yourself.

LevelZoneNotes
52-55Catacomb of the HereticClosest one, busy with newcomers
55-58Catacomb of Dark OmensDense spawns, steady XP
58-61Necropolis of Sacrifice, Pilgrim's NecropolisBetter XP, tougher mobs
55-61Forge of the GodsAlternative to catacombs, heavier on consumables

When subclasses actually unlock

Subclasses unlock at level 75 on your main, not at 52, and this trips people up constantly. What 52 gives you is access to the catacombs where subclasses get levelled later. The full mechanic is in the subclass guide.

Start saving for B-grade on this stretch instead of topping up C-grade. The damage gap between C and B is large enough that suffering two levels in old gear beats sinking adena into something you replace immediately. See gear progression.

Money

Costs climb here: B-grade shots are pricier and buffs are constant. Sealstones from the catacombs cover part of it, and the rest comes from farming (see adena farming 40-55) or crafting (see earning adena crafting).

By 61 nearly every class struggles without a proper party, a handful of solo specialists aside. If you play alone, line up a clan before you need one (see the clan guide).
